* Since 1991 I have worked with the same group of researchers at each of these institutions and continue to collaborate as an IT Consultant.
Experience – Research
For 15 years I worked closely with the same core-group of researchers developing research projects to investigate the functioning of the adult and developing infant visual system. These projects have included the development of novel instrumentation to monitor pupillary responses in term and preterm infants; the development of instrumentation to monitor compliance in children undertaking occlusion therapy for amblyopia; the use of wide-field digital fundus cameras in the neonatal intensive care units; developing web-based database access for such images and clinical details to aid collaboration. I have been involved in all stages of research from conception, planning and development through to data analysis and final publication in international peer-reviewed journals. I have supervised projects undertaken by undergraduate and postgraduate students and clinical staff from inception through to final publication of results.
Experience – IT
My work has always involved computer applications and I have developed skills in construction, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide range of computer equipment. I am adaptable and establish quickly familiarity with new software and hardware. Where software does not exist for my research or web development needs I write my own applications, most recently in Java, Perl and PHP.
Programming Languages: Basic and Visual Basic, Pascal, Fortran, C, C++ and Visual C++, Delphi, Java, Java Swing, Javascript, Perl, PHP.
